FAQs

Are your sessions covered by insurance?

Insurance coverage varies significantly between companies and individual plans. ClaimSecure, iA Financial Group, Manitoba Blue Cross and Equitable Life of Canada recognize and reimburse counselling by an RTC. If your plan specifically includes counselling, Green Shield of Canada, Manitoba Blue Cross, Pacific Blue Cross and Sunlife will reimburse you. Manulife, Canada Life and Alberta Blue Cross decide on a case-by-case basis.

What are your fees?

I charge a standard rate of $125 per 50 minute session. I also keep a few spots open for those who desire therapy, but cannot afford the standard rate due to financial constraints.

Another excellent option for low-cost support is to check out some of the workshops and psychoeducation groups that I offer.

What is the difference between RTC and RCC?

How many sessions will I need?

I am an RTC (Registered Therepeutic Counsellor). This designation is based on the extensive training and experience I have from The Haven, Options for Sexual Health, and Satir Therapy. More insurance reimbursement is offered for RCC (Registered Clinical Counsellor) which requires a Masters Degree for qualification. To that end, I am currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology.

Counselling is a collaborative endeavour, and depending on your level of current distress we will decide that together, and regularly revisit the question. My goal is to support you through your current challenges as quickly as possible. Some clients only require one or two sessions to regain their equilibrium, while others want to do a deep dive into their interpersonal and life patterns, which requires a longer time commitment. Sessions can be scheduled weekly, bi-weekly or monthly, or on an as needed basis for follow-up support.
